In 2018, Pamela Kariuki left Kenya with a suitcase full of hope and boarded a plane to Australia.
She arrived as an international student, excited, determined, and ready for a new beginning. But nothing truly prepared her for the culture shock, the isolation, or the invisible weight of starting over.
Pamela was fortunate. A kind couple welcomed her into their home and offered support many others never received. It didn’t take long for her to realise how critical early support is and how those first few months can shape an entire journey.
After earning her Master’s in Education (TESOL), Pamela became a teacher in Australia. Even with her qualifications, she faced new challenges: navigating an unfamiliar curriculum, adapting to different student needs, and managing the quiet pressure of trying to belong.
This personal experience inspired the creation of NGC Consultancy.
Founded by Pamela Kariuki, NGC Consultancy is more than just a business. It is a mission grounded in lived experience and dedicated to supporting others on similar paths.
